In 2008, when Thomas Howell made the American science fiction movie, “The day the earth stopped” has anyone thought even for a single second that after twelve years the earth will actually stop and that also not even by any intergalactic robots but by some miniature viruses. Earth has witnessed the destruction of epidemic before, but this time it has come to make the earth disable. This virus has compelled people to stay inside their home because there is no other way to stop this virus from spreading. 203 countries have attacked by it and 953,799 cases has found among them 48,509 people died worldwide. In this situation there is no better option than taking preventive measures. According to the reports mostly elderly people and young children are the sufferers of coronavirus. These are the people who has weak immunity system. This means people with weak immunity system are in the huge risk of Covid-19. Increasing the power of immunity system is an important prevention where foods help a lot.

The main nutritionist of Berdem Hospital Dr. Shamsunnahar Nahid has suggested foods with antioxidant to stop the contraction of coronavirus. Antioxidant prevent the damage of cells caused by free radicals and the supplements which are vitamin A, C and E can develop immune system.

 

 

Foods we should eat:

Foods that contain antioxidant are all the purple, blue, orange and yellow colored vegetables and fruits. Corolla with beta-carotene, purple cabbage, carrot, tomato, sweet potato, capsicum, cauliflower these are the foods which we should keep in our daily diet because these have high antioxidant and vitamin A which is a supplement of antioxidant. Other than these in fruits she suggests orange, papaya, grapes, mango, pomegranate, watermelon, strawberry, olive and pineapple which contain vitamin A, C and E. In spices she suggests ginger, garlic, cinnamon and peppermint. She also suggests sim, beans, fiber foods like barley, red rice, oats, flour different types of nuts and sour curd. All these foods protect our respiration and gastrointestinal tract from diseases and as we know coronavirus mainly attack there.

Green tea and red tea have EGCG antioxidant, so these are also suggested. Moreover, we also should have high protein foods like egg, meat, fish regularly.

 

Contained vitamins by the suggested food:

Corolla: Vitamin B1, vitamin B2, B3 and vitamin C.

Purple cabbage: Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K and Vitamin B6. It also has small amount of other vitamins and minerals.

Carrot: Vitamin A (From beta carotene), Vitamin K1(phylloquinone) and Vitamin B6

Tomato: Vitamin C(Folate) and Vitamin K.

Sweet Potato: Vitamin A, Vitamin C (Potassium, Manganese) Vitamin B6, B5 and Vitamin E.

Capsicum: Vitamin A, Vitamin B1(thiamine), Vitamin B2(riboflavin), Vitamin B3(niacin), Vitamin B6(folate), Vitamin C, Vitamin K (manganese, potassium) and Vitamin E.

Cauliflower: Vitamin C, K and B6

Orange: Vitamin C (thiamine, folate and potassium)

Papaya: Vitamin C and E

Grapes: Vitamin C (manganese)

Mango: Vitamin A, C, B6 and E

Pomegranate: Vitamin A

Watermelon: Vitamin A

Strawberry: Vitamin A

Olive: Vitamin E (iron, copper and calcium)

Pineapple: Vitamin A

 

Foods we should avoid:

The foods which we shouldn’t have during this time are all the fast food, all soft and hard drinks, any drugs, foods made with sugar and definitely cold foods. Because this virus mostly lives in low temperature.

All of us are going through a very difficult time where we can do only one thing which is staying healthy. By eating healthy one can stay healthy. So, for the time being everyone should follow a healthy diet to fight back this deadly virus.
